SWE500E-3H Large excavator for mining, Construction and Heavy Earthmoving
When a project moves from ordinary excavation to serious earthmoving, the machine you choose starts to matter a lot. A small Excavator may be easy to move and simple to operate, but it can struggle when the ground becomes hard, the digging depth increases, or the amount of material becomes too large. This is where a machine such as the SWE500E-3H Large Excavator makes practical sense.
At Ganglong Heavy Industry Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd., we work with customers who need construction machinery for real jobs, not just machines that look good in a brochure. Founded in 2013, our group combines equipment-related business, international trade, machinery supply, customization support and after-sales coordination. Through Hefei Ganglong International Trade Co., Ltd., we serve customers across Asia, Africa, America and other international markets.
For the Sunward SWE500E-3H Excavator, our role is to help customers source and arrange the right machine, configuration, documents, transportation and related service. We do not describe ourselves as the manufacturer of Sunward equipment. Instead, we use our experience in construction machinery and international trade to make the buying process easier and more practical for overseas customers.
The SWE500E-3H is positioned in the large excavator class. Its published configuration includes a 49-ton operating weight, 2.6 m³ standard bucket and 280 kW engine power at 2,000 rpm. The machine is designed around heavy excavation work, with a 6.4 m heavy-duty boom, 2.9 m arm, heavy-duty undercarriage and a dedicated crushing circuit. These features make it suitable for demanding earthmoving, mining, quarrying and construction work. Specifications can vary with configuration and product updates, so we confirm the latest specification before an order is finalized.
When I discuss a large excavator with a customer, I normally do not start with the engine number. I start with the job.
What kind of material are you digging? How deep is the excavation? Are you loading trucks? Is the site a quarry? Will the excavator work with a Hydraulic Breaker? How many working hours are expected each day? How far does the machine need to travel between working areas? These questions tell us much more than simply saying, “I need a 50-ton excavator.”
The SWE500E-3H Large Excavator is built for customers who need more than ordinary digging capability. Its 49-ton operating weight gives it a substantial working platform, while the 2.6 m³ bucket provides a useful balance between digging capacity and material handling.
Sunward's published information lists a Cummins QSM11 engine with rated power of 280 kW at 2,000 rpm. The hydraulic system uses two variable-displacement piston pumps, with a listed maximum main-pump flow of 2 × 400 L/min and system pressure of 34.3 MPa. In simple terms, the engine supplies the power and the hydraulic system turns that power into movement at the boom, arm, bucket, swing system and travel system.

For a buyer, these numbers are useful because they give a clear starting point. But I always recommend looking at the whole machine rather than one impressive number. A powerful engine is useful, but it needs to work with the hydraulic system, boom, arm, bucket, undercarriage and operating conditions. A machine is a complete system. That is how I prefer to evaluate the SWE500E-3H Excavator.
The basic working principle of a Hydraulic Excavator is actually quite easy to understand.
The engine creates mechanical power. The hydraulic pumps use that power to move hydraulic oil through the system. The oil then operates hydraulic cylinders and motors. These components move the boom, arm and bucket, rotate the upper structure and drive the tracks.
When I explain an excavator to a customer who is not deeply involved in machinery, I usually compare it to a human arm. The boom is like the upper part of your arm, the arm section extends the reach, and the bucket works like a hand that actually grabs the soil or rock. The hydraulic system provides the muscle.
On the SWE500E-3H, the 6.4 m heavy-duty boom and 2.9 m arm provide a working setup suited to large excavation. The published working range reaches approximately 10,745 mm in maximum digging height and 11,115 mm in maximum digging reach. Maximum digging depth is listed at 6,850 mm, while maximum ground-level digging reach is about 10,890 mm.
That range is important in practical work. For example, when loading material into a truck, the excavator needs enough reach and dumping height to position the bucket without constantly moving the entire machine. In quarry work, the machine may need to reach into a working face and pull broken rock toward the loading area. In general earthmoving, a longer working range can reduce unnecessary repositioning.
The SWE500E-3H also has a listed bucket digging force of 297 kN and arm digging force of 261 kN under the stated measurement condition. Those figures help explain why the machine is aimed at demanding excavation rather than light landscaping work.
Of course, digging force on paper is not the same as actual production on every site. Soil condition, bucket selection, operator skill, working method, machine position and maintenance all affect real output. This is why we prefer to discuss the customer's actual application before recommending a configuration.
For me, one of the most interesting parts of the SWE500E-3H Large Excavator is that its design is not focused only on engine power. Several parts are built around difficult working conditions.
The machine uses a heavy-duty 6.4 m boom and 2.9 m arm. A large excavator has to handle considerable forces every time the bucket enters the ground, lifts material and swings it toward the truck or stockpile. The working equipment therefore needs enough strength and stability for repeated cycles.
This matters especially in mining and quarrying, where the excavator may work with hard or partially broken material. Sunward describes the SWE500E-3H as using a heavy-duty boom and arm configuration for mining and construction applications.
The standard bucket capacity is listed at 2.6 m³, and the machine is described with a double-arc rock bucket. Sunward's product information also highlights a wear-resistant bucket design intended to reduce digging resistance.
For buyers, bucket choice should always match the material. A bucket for loose soil does not have exactly the same job as a bucket used in rocky conditions. When we receive an inquiry, we therefore look at the material, working method and attachment requirements before confirming the final configuration.
The lower structure carries almost everything. It supports the machine, transfers the working load to the ground and allows the excavator to move around the site.
The published SWE500E-3H configuration uses a heavy-duty undercarriage and 600 mm track shoes. Ground pressure is listed at 84.1 kPa, while the maximum travel speed is 4.8 km/h and the lower travel speed is 3.0 km/h.
This is not a machine designed to race around a site. Large Excavators are normally positioned where the work is happening and then moved when necessary. Their real value comes from digging, loading, breaking and moving large amounts of material efficiently.
The SWE500E-3H has a published swing speed of 8.6 rpm. Sunward's product literature also highlights a double swing motor configuration intended to reduce starting and braking impact and make rotation more stable.
That kind of detail may not sound exciting, but operators notice it. Smooth swing movement matters when the excavator repeatedly moves material from one digging position to one truck or stockpile. A stable swing can make the whole working cycle feel more controlled.
I would not call the SWE500E-3H a machine for only one industry. Its size and configuration give it a much wider working range.
Mining and quarrying are obvious applications. The machine has a large bucket, strong digging force and heavy-duty undercarriage. It can be used for excavation, loading, material handling and site preparation, depending on the actual working conditions.
Another useful point is the dedicated crushing circuit. Sunward states that the SWE500E-3H uses a professional crushing circuit system and can be configured with a larger hydraulic breaker. The product literature also mentions reinforced crushing support.
That gives the excavator another job: breaking hard material before excavation or loading.
Suppose a quarry has a hard section that needs to be broken before the material can be removed. The excavator can be configured for hydraulic breaker work rather than relying only on the bucket. This can make the machine more flexible across different stages of a project.
Construction is another major application. Large excavation is common in foundations, road construction, large-scale earthmoving, industrial sites and infrastructure projects. The SWE500E-3H can also be considered where large volumes of soil need to be removed and loaded.
| Application | Typical Work | Why the SWE500E-3H Can Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Mining | Overburden removal, excavation, loading | Heavy-duty structure, large bucket and strong digging force |
| Quarrying | Rock handling, excavation, breaker work | Rock bucket and dedicated crushing circuit |
| Large Construction | Foundation excavation and earthmoving | Long working range and high operating weight |
| Road Projects | Cutting, trenching and bulk earthmoving | Large working range and crawler stability |
| Industrial Projects | Site preparation and material handling | Large bucket and heavy-duty working equipment |
| General Earthmoving | Large-volume soil excavation and loading | 49-ton machine class and 2.6 m³ bucket |
Application assessment based on the published SWE500E-3H configuration and the general application range of Sunward large excavators. Exact suitability depends on site conditions and attachment configuration.
There is one thing I always tell customers: do not select a large excavator simply because the job is called “mining” or “construction.” Two mining sites can be completely different. One may involve soft overburden, another may involve hard rock. One may have wide open space, while another may have strict transportation limits. We need to look at the actual site before finalizing the machine.
A customer who searches for a 49 ton large excavator will often compare several models before making a decision. That is normal. In fact, I encourage it.
The following comparison uses published Sunward large-excavator specifications. It is not intended to say that one model is universally better than another. The models have different sizes, power levels and intended working ranges. The correct choice depends on the project.
| Model | Published Weight | Engine Power | Bucket Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| SWE385F | 38.5 t | 241 kW / 2000 rpm | 1.8 m³ |
| SWE500E-3H | 49.0 t | 280 kW / 2000 rpm | 2.6 m³ |
| SWE600F | 52.8 t | 300 kW / 1800 rpm | 3.2 m³ |
| SWE700F | 66.7 t | 563 kW / 2100 rpm | Published configuration varies |
| SWE750F | 79.0 t | 565 kW / 1900 rpm | 5.0 m³ |
| SWE950E-3H | 93.8 t | 565 kW / 1900 rpm | 5.5 m³ |

Looking at the table, the SWE500E-3H sits below the heavier SWE600F, SWE700F, SWE750F and SWE950E-3H models in this published range. That does not make the larger models automatically more suitable. A machine that is too large can create its own problems, including transportation difficulty, higher site requirements and unnecessary capacity.
For a buyer who needs a heavy excavator but does not need a machine approaching 70, 80 or 90 tons, the SWE500E-3H Excavator can be a practical size to investigate.
| Working Parameter | Published SWE500E-3H Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum Digging Height | 10,745 mm |
| Maximum Dumping Height | 7,300 mm |
| Maximum Digging Depth | 6,850 mm |
| Digging Depth at 2.44 m Horizontal | 6,695 mm |
| Maximum Vertical Digging Depth | 5,680 mm |
| Maximum Digging Reach | 11,115 mm |
| Maximum Ground-Level Digging Reach | 10,890 mm |
| Minimum Front Swing Radius | 4,540 mm |
| Bucket Digging Force | 297 kN |
| Arm Digging Force | 261 kN |

These figures are especially useful when we are checking whether the excavator can reach a particular excavation face, load a truck at a certain height or work within a specific site layout.

Buying a large excavator is not simply a matter of selecting a model and sending payment. For an overseas customer, the machine itself is only one part of the transaction.
At Ganglong, we pay attention to the complete process.
First, we confirm the customer's application. We want to know the country, working environment, material, project type, required attachments, expected workload and transportation conditions. If the customer needs a hydraulic breaker, special bucket or other attachment, that requirement should be discussed before production or final configuration.
Next comes the order and production schedule. Production time normally depends on the model, configuration, quantity and customization requirements. We confirm the expected delivery schedule before production so that the customer can plan transportation and project timing.
Before shipment, the machine is checked according to the order requirements. We pay attention to appearance, main functions, hydraulic and electrical systems and basic operating performance. Required documents and accessories are also prepared according to the agreed configuration.
This step sounds ordinary, but it matters. A machine can be technically correct and still create trouble if documents are missing, loose accessories are not packed properly or the shipping plan is not clear.
For international orders, T/T payment is commonly arranged with a deposit before production and the balance before shipment, although the final payment terms are confirmed between both parties according to the specific order.
Transportation depends on the destination and shipping route. Complete machines are generally shipped by sea. Parts and smaller accessories may be suitable for air freight or express transportation.
For packing, the machine is normally protected with suitable film, fixed securely and prepared according to shipping requirements. Spare parts and loose accessories are packed separately in appropriate cartons or wooden cases when needed. The exact packing method can be adjusted according to the destination, shipping route and customer requirements.
There are many machinery sellers in the international market. So I think it is fair for a buyer to ask: what exactly does the supplier bring to the table?
For us, the answer is experience across different machinery categories and international trade.
Ganglong Heavy Industry Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd. was founded in 2013. Together with Hefei Ganglong International Trade Co., Ltd., our business covers construction machinery, mining machinery, agricultural machinery and related attachments.
We supply our own HKLOONG equipment in selected product categories, while we also provide complete machine sales and leasing services for various domestic and international brands, including Hitachi, SANY, Lonking, Hyundai, XCMG, SHANMON and LOVOL. For branded equipment such as Sunward, our role is as a machinery supplier and international trade partner rather than the original manufacturer.
That distinction is important because I believe a product page should tell buyers exactly who they are dealing with.
Our international trade arm, Hefei Ganglong International Trade Co., Ltd., has experience serving customers in Asia, Africa, America and other regions. This gives us practical experience with different shipping routes, documents, customer requirements and working environments.
We also understand that customers often buy more than a single excavator. A project may require attachments, spare parts, another machine model, agricultural equipment, mining machinery or other supporting equipment. Because our business covers multiple machinery categories, we can discuss these requirements together rather than treating every machine as a completely separate purchase.
For the SWE500E-3H Large Excavator, our job is to help you move from “I need a large excavator” to a clearly defined machine and delivery plan.

There is no single delivery time that applies to every order. Production and delivery depend on the machine model, configuration, order quantity, customization requirements and shipping arrangement. We confirm the expected schedule before production.
I recommend starting with the actual job rather than the machine size. Compare digging depth, material type, bucket capacity, truck loading height, transportation restrictions, expected working hours and attachment requirements. If the project does not need the capacity of a much larger machine, a 49-ton-class excavator may provide a more practical balance. We can review the working conditions with you before the final model is confirmed.
A large excavator is a serious investment, and the right choice depends on more than one specification. If you are looking for a SWE500E-3H Excavator for mining, quarrying, construction, road work, industrial earthmoving or another heavy-duty application, we can help you review the machine configuration and international delivery requirements.
At Ganglong, we focus on the complete supply process: product selection, configuration discussion, inspection, documents, packing, payment arrangement and transportation coordination. Our international trade team can also discuss spare parts, attachments and other construction or mining machinery needed for the same project.
Send us your working conditions, destination, required quantity and attachment requirements. From there, we can check the available configuration, confirm the latest technical details and work out a practical supply plan for your project.
